~56

TUESDAY

JANUARY 26, 1965

Also by letter dated January 26, 1965, the Planning Commission recommended

that the petition of Dr. Fred T. Renick--received by Council on December

8, 1964--be granted as submitted, which requested the rezoning of Dr. Renick's

property at 412 East Church street from a "R-9 Residentialll zoning

classification to a "P-1 Professionalll classification. In tentative

acceptance of this recommendation, Council called for a public hearing to be

conducted by Council on the petition at Council's regular meeting scheduled for

February 23, 1965. The record shows that Dr. Renick, being a member of

Council and its Vice-Mayor, abstained from taking part in any proceedings

relating to this petition.

The Planning Commission, by letter dated January 26, 1965, reported that it

has had under study its own proposal to amend the City's Zoning Code to allow

personal service occupations in the I'P_2 Professional" districts and to allow

music-and-dance studios to operate within the "C-2 Commercialll districts.

Following a public hearing, in which no one registered any objections to

these amendments, the Commission further reported that it recommends the

enacting of these amendments; whereupon, Council called for a duly-advertised

public hearing to be conducted on these recommended amendments at Council's

regular meeting scheduled for February 23, 1965.

The Commission reported, too, that after considering the rezoning petition

submitted by Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Kitson, as received by Council at its

meeting of December 15, 1964, requesting the rezoning of property at 307

East Church Street from "R-6 H.esidentialll to IlP-2 Professionalll, it also

considered the rezoning of adjoining property at 305 East Church Street

(known as the Burch property) and, after so doing, recommended the rezoning

of both properties to "P_2 ProfessionaJII upon the condition that Mr. and Mrs.

Kitson, at their expense, widen the twenty-two-foot pavement from the Church
Street entrance along his property to thirty feet, to which the record shows
