The City construction has been and is entirely from City budgeted <br />funds, without direct state-aid project. Present construction is to state specifications. <br />Right-of-way width is 100 feet. The use of 700 feet of Armory Road would be proposed <br />in the new routing (Point K to point L). <br /> <br />7. It is proposed for the new routing that a new connection road, 850 feet in length, be <br />constructed between Armory Ro?d (point L) and Elizabeth Street and Fayette street <br />(Point E). The ,'oadway is po.rtiallY graded and 70% of the right-of-way is available <br />at no cost in single ownership. <br /> <br />8. It is proposed a new roadway be constructed across the block between Fayette Street <br />and Elizabeth Street (point E) to east-bound Route 57 at Church Street (point G). <br />This block is 500 feet in length and is occupiec by sub-standard housing. <br /> <br />The relocation of Virginia Route 57 to the proposed routing, in sWlm~ry, would: <br /> <br />a. ReL~ve the Route, and its traffic, from conflict with central business district <br />traffic congestion, thereby increasing its usefUlness and speed of traffic <br />movement. <br /> <br />b. Take advantage of two recently constructed full-standard roadways. <br /> <br />c. Considerably improve the interconnection between U. S. Route 58, U. S.
