David Morris, Commissioner of the Revenue, Council <br /> <br />directed that a refund of real estate taxes assessed against--and paid by-- <br /> <br />trustees of the American Legion Post No. 78 be made, in the total amount of <br /> <br />$77.70 for the tax years 1961, 1962, and 1963, this property being tax-exempt <br /> <br />although this fact was not heretofore known because of the listing of the <br /> <br />property in the name of Walter H. Reynolds, et also <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Mr. George W. Lester, of Lester Lumber Company, <br /> <br />Council agreed to permit Lester Lumber Company to connect that certain parcel <br /> <br />of property--on which Kilby's Drive-In Restaurant is located--beyond the City's <br /> <br />corporate limits on Route 220 North, to a City sewer main some eighty feet <br /> <br />distant, upon the conditions that connecting line and the connection be made <br /> <br />in accordance with the City's specifications, that water from a private source <br /> <br />of supply be metered for basis of computing sewer service charges, and that the <br /> <br />sewer service charge be one and one-half times the City's standard l1insidell <br /> <br />charge. <br /> <br />Council continued for consideration at its next regular meeting the matter of <br /> <br />ice-cream mobile vending machines and the traffic hazards created by such, as <br /> <br />well as accompanying disturbing noise, in the residential areas of the City. <br /> <br />Upon motion, Council accepted with appreciation certain deeds conveying right- <br /> <br />of-way to the City, one being from Mr. and Mrs. Clyde L. Richards, involving <br /> <br /> <br />property along Liberty street (Figsboro Road), and others involving property <br /> <br /> <br />along Cabell street (from Woodmen of the World and Mr. H. C. Wade). <br /> <br />As a matter of record, Council acknowledged receipt of the following abstract of <br /> <br />votes cast in the councilmanic election held June 9, 1964, in which Dr. Fred T. <br /> <br />Renick and Messrs. Harry L. Boaz and E. E. Stone, all incumbents, were re-elected <br /> <br />
