18

TUESDAY APRIL 14. 1964

to the developer. City Manager Hirst pointed out that the nearest proposed

connecting point under the current sewerage system improvement program

would be apPr'oximately 2,700 feet from the development and would not be

available for another year-and-one-half and, furthermore, could nc,t justify

or recommend the constructing of facilities--at City expense--to serve this

development. In view of the prohibitive expense upon the developer to

construct such lines, as required by the City's subdj_ vision regulations

and other regulations governing the extension of utilities outside the

corporate limits, Council waived the requirement as to sewer lines.

City Manager Hirst reported that fourteen deeds granting right-of-way to

the City for the improvement of Figsboro Road have been received at no

cost to the City and that Ol".e remaining piece of property involved in th e

project is in process of being acquired.

City Manager Hirst informed Council that the Trust Department of the First

National Bank of Mc:xtinsville & Henry County has agreed (in writing) to

postpone--at the City's request--the purchase date for the John Redd Smith

Estate property (see Counci.2_1 s minutes of March 24, 1964) until July 1 st,

or the beginLing of the City's next fiscal year.

Along with J. Coate,s Carter, Architect, City Manager Hirst presented proposed

office-layouts and drawings of the proposed new City Municipal Administration

building to be located on property acquired and to be acquired, extending

from Moss Street, along the south side of West Church Street, eastward

through the John R. Smith Estate property. Council indicated it will give

further consideration to thi~) proj ect at its next regular meeting.

'''-..

"'"U"_.,"~..."_",.~,,....=_,_~~,_."",..__..____........._"--""..."""""'..,,.,.,..,
