<br />City Manager H~rst presented the following swnmary of bids received for the
<br />
<br />construction of a sewer line to serve Red Oak Street, Prunty Street, Robin
<br />
<br />Street, Sunset Avenue, and Hillcresc Avenue, all located between the north
<br />
<br />boundary of the Carolina & Northwestern Railway parallel to the south boundary
<br />
<br />of Northside Drive:

<br />Laramore Construction Company
<br />Prillaman & Pace, Inc.
<br />Hackle r-Seymcmr Metal 'Works
<br />
<br />'$ 7,5c)4.00;
<br />8,905 .00; and
<br />11,564.00.
<br />
<br />The bid of Laramore Construction Company being the lowest of those submitted,
<br />
<br />and upon recolnmendation of City Manager Hirst, Council accepted said Laramore
<br />
<br />bid and authorized the construction of said line.
<br />
<br />Upon request of Mr. Norman F. Mc.:?rhee, and others, owners of property on
<br />
<br />Chatham Road outside the City's corporate limits, Council agreed to permit--
<br />
<br />subject to execution of an appropriate contract--the petitioners to construct
<br />
<br />a six-inc;h water main from the present term::..nus of the City's water main on
<br />
<br />Chatham Road for a distance of approxirnatel3T 900 feet, beginning on the north
<br />
<br />side of Chatham Road ffild following a tangent to the John Lancaster residential
<br />
<br />lot line, with the understanding that such construction would be in accordance
<br />
<br />with the City1s specifications and at the cost of the petitioners, with the
<br />
<br />City to assume maintenance of the line upon completion and acceptance. It
<br />
<br />was also understood by Council that no additional service requirements or usage
<br />
<br />would be imposed upon this line through any subdivision of property.
<br />
<br />City Manager Hirst reported that no fatalities, as a result of trs.ffic accidents
<br />
<br />or conditions, occurred within the City during the calendar year 1963.
<br />
<br />Attorney W. R. Broad:.!).s, III, and representatives of the petroleum industry,
<br />
<br />appeared before Council in connection with certain sections of the proposod now
<br />
