These representatives also suggested that a <br /> <br />walkway be graded along Fourth Street and that Pine Hall Road be <br /> <br />widened and graded. City Manager Hirst pointed out that additional right- <br /> <br /> <br />of-way will be required along Pine Hall Road to permit widening and <br /> <br /> <br />grading and that allocations for the current year have been made for <br /> <br /> <br />construction of curb-and-gutter and/or sidewalk; whereupon Council agreed <br /> <br />to investigate the possibility of providing some temporary measures and <br /> <br />to consider the requests further at its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that construction of the new Armory has been <br /> <br />delayed, pending a study being given to revising the plans by the architect. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of copies of the Annual Traffic Inventory, <br /> <br />calendar year 1962, for the City of Martinsville, as prepared by the National <br />Safety Council. <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of an audit report, covering the activities <br /> <br />of the City's Municipal Court, as prepared by the State Auditor of Public <br /> <br />Accounts. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported the resignation of Mr. Aubrey L. Wells as City <br /> <br />Dog Warden, as of September 30, 1963, because of illness. Mr. Hirst commended <br /> <br />Mr. Wells for his excellent performance of duties while employed by the City <br /> <br /> <br />and expressed regrets that Mr. Wells has been forced to submit his resignation. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />W. ~)~dyLe~~~,a Clerk of Council <br />
