16:

TUESDAY

July 9. 1963

Council was informed that Mr. Charlie M. Finney has agreed to contribute the sum of
$400.00 per lot (plus $25.00 sewer connection fee per lot) for each of three lots he
owns on Grand View Street if the City will construct a sewer line along this street.

By motion Council accepted Mr. Finney's offer-and authorized the construction of

said sewer line.

#-

Mr. J. O. Poff, residing on Chatham Road and whose property extends from Chatham

Road to Grand View Street, appeared before Council and registered his objections to

the building set-back line being used by Mr. Charlie M. Finney on residences being

constructed on Grand View Street and, also, to the fact that the property adjoining

his (Mr. Poff1s) property between Chatham Road and Grand View Street has been

sub-divided without his prior knowledge, thus creating to him an unsatisfactory

alignment of houses on both streets. Council referred the latter complaint to IDe
Planning Commission for its consideration but, meanwhile, indicated that the
alignment is within the City's requirements and, consequently, nothing can be done.
A problem =:'eferred to by Mr. Poff, regarding the piling of rubbish on lots facing
Chatham Road, was referred to the Health Department.

The 1963 Board of Equalization reported that it has completed its assignment and

that adjustments of real estate assessments authorized by the Board are being

forwarded to the Commissioner of the Revenue.

r-

Councilman Thomas J. Burch relayed to Council some expressions of concern expressed

by property owners residing in the Cleveland Avenue-Starling Avenue area over the

construction by Pannill Knitting Company, Inc., of an employee-parking lot on the

east side of Cleveland Avenue and the south side of Mulberry Extension, the concern

particularly stressing the need for night-lighting of the lot.

/
