154

TUESDAY

JUNE 11. 1963

WHEREAS, the construction of a new industrial plant immediately adjacent
to this project has necessitated the requesting by the City of Martins-
ville of a revision in plans for said project so as to provide for the
extending of sidewalk on the south side of said project from Station 53+42
to Station 70+40, or Cabell Street, and so as to provide for the widening
and revising of the intersection of said U. S. Route 58 with Cabell Street;
now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in
regular meeting assembled this eleventh day of June, 1963, that the City
of Martinsville assume its proportionate share of the cost of the requested
revisions to said project, said share being on a participating basis with
the Virginia Department of Highways and the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads.

Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the substituting of

the Chatham Road widening project--originally scheduled for 1963-64--for the

Figsboro Road widening project which was scheduled for the current year but which

has been delayed because of certain right-of-way problems, thus re-scheduling the

Figsboro Road project during the forthcoming budget year.

Council acknowledged receipt of a "Report on Audit" of the office of City Sergeant

James L. Carter, for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1962, as prepared by the State

Auditor of Public Accounts.

Council was adjourned.

~~.~
1,.1. H. (~....
