This report ca~e <br /> <br />in response to the Commission's consideration--referred by Council on May 6th <br /> <br />to the Commission--of a rezoning petition submitted on behalf of the estate of <br /> <br />Mrs. Cecil Witten Ford and involving the estate's property at 128 East Church <br /> <br />Street. In tentatively accepting the Commission's recommendation, ComlCil called <br /> <br />for a duly-advertised public hearing on the proposal to be conducted by Council <br /> <br />at its next regular meeting scheduled for May 28, 1963. <br /> <br />With appreciation and gratitude, Council accepted from the Martinsville Volurleer <br /> <br />Fire Company its donation of a fire salvage truck as a most welcome addition to <br /> <br />the City's fire-fighting equipment. It was noted that this new truck represented <br /> <br />five years of study and work on the part of the City's fire-fighting forces and, <br /> <br />too, was built according to specifications and design developed by local fire <br /> <br />personnel. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a report on the City's Prison Farm, as prepared <br /> <br />by an inspector of the State Department of Welfare and Institutions and, also, a <br /> <br />report by the City's Inspection Department covering building construction <br /> <br />activities in Martinsville during the past several months. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilson reported that he has received some complaints against "mobile <br /> <br />retailers" operating on the City's streets and, after some discussion, Council <br /> <br />indicated that it would study the possibility of adopting some prohibitory <br />regulations. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilson also informed Council that he has received a letter from the <br /> <br />International City Managers' Association complimenting the City Council on <br />
