<br />f <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER II, 1962 <br /> <br />,,~ <br /> <br />(in their opinion) would not be conducive to the betterment of the <br /> <br />community and would best be located outside the corporate limits. <br /> <br />After s-ome discussion, and upon motion (duly seconded), Council <br /> <br />unanimously voted to allow the Recreation Center to operate a rifle <br /> <br />or target range at the Center and to amend the City Code by an <br /> <br />appropriate ordinance to be prepared by City Attorney Cubine. <br /> <br />By written report, a Board of Viewers--consisting of Messrs. Whitney <br /> <br />Shumate, R. A, Henderson, Jr., and J. E. Jones, appointed August 14, <br /> <br />1962--informed Council that it has viewed Griggs, Ailzie, and Annie <br /> <br />Streets lying within property owned by Sale Knitting Company and <br /> <br />located off Franklin Street, which streets are unopened and have <br /> <br />been requested by Sale Knitting Company that they be vacated and <br /> <br />abandoned. The Viewers further informed Council that in its <br /> <br />opinion no inconvenience would result from the vacating of these <br /> <br />streets; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, <br /> <br />Council accepted the report of the Board of Viewers and directed <br /> <br />the Clerk of Martinsville City Circuit Court to mark on his records <br /> <br />that said streets are vacated and abandoned. <br /> <br />An interim report of the 1962 Board of Assessors revealed that as <br /> <br />of August 31, 1962, 4,707 parcels of real estate have been reappraised <br /> <br />and that 2,669 such parcels remain to be reappraised. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst presented the following tabulation of bids <br /> <br />received September 5, 1962, for the construction of a phase (MI-A to <br /> <br />M-2) of the Mulberry Creek Interceptor Sewer Line, whereupon Council <br /> <br />unanimously accepted, the low bid submitted by Laramore Construction <br />
