<br />f <br /> <br />TffiRSDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 30. 1962 <br /> <br />,--- <br /> <br />recommended that expert planning advice be obtained towards developnent of the <br /> <br /> <br />airport tract as an industrial park. 1lfter discussing the progress status of <br /> <br /> <br />the current sewerage system improvement program, Council asked that the City's <br /> <br /> <br />consulting engineers--Wiley & Wilson, Lynchburg, Virginia--be given notice <br /> <br />that Council is quite concerned over some apparent delay in preparation of <br /> <br /> <br />plans and specifications Qy the engineers and would like an immediate exPlanation <br /> <br /> <br />from the engineers. <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reported that a copy of the City's regulations governing <br /> <br /> <br />extensions of water and Sel-Fer mains outside the corporate limits has been <br /> <br /> <br />presented to interested persons involved in the construction of a Holiday Inn <br /> <br /> <br />on Route 220 North (outside the City's corporate limits)-who recently requested <br /> <br /> <br />permission to oonnect this new motel to the City's sewerage system-and the City <br /> <br /> <br />is now awaiting advice from the petitioners. <br /> <br />Upon petition Qy Mr. G. CaIToll Thomasson, residing at 1028 Mulberry Road, Council <br /> <br /> <br />authorized the extending of the current curb-and-gutter construction from its <br /> <br /> <br />present projected terminus on the west side of Mulberry Road to the southeast <br /> <br /> <br />corner of Mt-. Thomasson 's property. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Upon petition by Hedgecock Floral Company and Mr. E. P. Waller, Council authorized <br /> <br />the extending of sidewalk replacement on the east side of Broad Street to the <br /> <br />southwest corner of Mr. Waller's property. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Mr. Mtke Ievy, owner of Ievy's Bargain Store at 38 Franklin street, reported that <br /> <br />there is considerable "feeding" of parking meters on Franklin 'street (or extended <br /> <br /> <br />use of parking spaces by certain individuals), thus preventing use of these spaces <br /> <br /> <br />Qy other persons. Council continued this matter for study. <br />
