<br />NOW THEREFORE, the City of Martinsville, Virginia, by its duly
<br />constituted agent, Julian F. Hirst, City Manager, does approve the
<br />abandomnent or vacation of the hereinafter described premises, which
<br />is the aforesaid alley space:
<br />
<br />Said alley-way situated, lying and being between Lots #5 and #6,
<br />opening on the West side of Thomas Boulevard fer a depth of am
<br />extending back the entire depth of Lots #5 and #6, am. which
<br />alley-way opens at the rear of Lots #5 and #6, on the East side
<br />of Woodland Street, which is a 30 foot street set aside on the
<br />map hereinafter referred to, and which street and alley-way
<br />have been unused by the property owners of said adjacent lots
<br />or anyone else since said street ani alley-way were set aside
<br />and designated as such street and alley-way on the map herein-
<br />after mentiored. Said alley space is shown on a map legended
<br />"Section-B Thomas Heights Martinsville, Virginia belongiqs to
<br />The C. Y. Thomas Estate, Im.", which map was prepared by T.S.
<br />Moore, C.L.S., in February, 1930, and which map is of record
<br />in tre Henry County Circuit Court Clerk's Office in Map Book
<br />2, Page 21.

<br />The aforesaid Lot #5 being the sane lot conveyed to E. E.
<br />Givens et ux by deed dated July 25, 1938, and of record in the
<br />Henry county Circuit Court Clerk'S Office in Deed Book 62,
<br />Page 191, and the aforementioned, Lot #6 being the same lot
<br />conveyed to Claude E. Taylor, Jr. et ux, by deed dated May 1,
<br />1950, and of record in the City of Martinsville Circuit Court
<br />Clerkts Office in Deed Book 20, Page 122.

<br />WHEREFORE, the Council for the City of Martins vi lIe has caused
<br />the City Manager, Julian F. Hirst, to sign its corporate name to this
<br />agreenent, and has caused the same to be attested by W. H. Yeaman,
<br />Clerk of the Coumil, this the da.y and year first above written.

<br />Upon motion, duly seconded am unanimously carried, Courci1 indicated that--
<br />
<br />at the request of Sale Knitting Company-it will sell to said Sale Knitting
<br />
<br />Company the City's property known as "North Martimville Playground" , located
<br />on the east side of Franklin Street, for the sum of $18,500.00, the value
<br />established by the Martinsville Real Estate Board. This property is generally
<br />
<br />that purchased from John W. & Gertie Bram by deed #828 dated November 22,
<br />1946, and from Lester Lumber CompaI\V, Inc., by deed #61 dated January 6, 1949,
<br />
<br />and such alleys and streets or other property within the two tracts as may be
<br />determined or established as being owned by the City. Council, further,
<br />specified that the proceeds--or any portion thereof as may be necessary--
<br />
