<br />1 <br /> <br />TUES L!1 Y <br /> <br />MP, 1~l~62 <br /> <br />,,-. <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, 'Nas held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, May 1, 1962, <br /> <br />at7:JO P.M., with all members beir:g present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick; Thomas J. Burch; E. E. stone; and Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />After j-,lJe invocation, the purposes of this special meeting were stated, as <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />follov'is: <br /> <br />(1) To receive from City Attorney Cubire and to consider an <br /> <br />annexation proceedings ordinance, prt~pared at the d:irection <br /> <br />of Council; and <br /> <br />(2) To consider a resolution providing for the sale of a portion <br /> <br />of the City's airport property for industrial usage and providing <br /> <br />for the extending of utility services to said property. <br /> <br />In connecticn with the pr01)osed irrlustrial developnent of the airport tract, <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst reviewed details covering conferences and negotiations with <br /> <br />representatives of interested industrial firI~ and with other interested persons. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and carried, Counci 1 adopted the fonowing resolution <br /> <br />authorizing the executing by the City of a purchase option to an industrial firm <br /> <br />represented by I\lTr. ~Tarnes A. 'Neller, Attorney, upon terms and corrlitions set forth <br /> <br />in said resolution: <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia <br />in s}::ecial meeting held this first day of May, 1962, that the City <br />does agree a.nd con-nnit itself that it will construct and provide to <br />the C ompallY, with wl'icr. Company the City and the Martinsville-Henry <br />C01mty Chamber of Cor:rrnerce have been negotiating and which Company is <br />represented by Janles A. Weller, Attorney, adequate municipal water <br />and sanitary sewer service for normal operating purnoses, to be <br />provided by an 8rr water line, a fire reserve storage tank for the use <br />of the airport property, and a seVier outfall line, said facilities to <br />be available within five months following commencement of constru:tion <br />on the s:i_te, and at no cost to the industry, and at the same tariff <br />charged to allY other industria,l user similarly si tuatedj and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City does grant to said Company a <br />sixty-da;,/ option to purchase at a price of ;~2 ,000 per acre, anllI'oxirnately <br />
