That any buildings erected on the property be subject to the City <br />Building Code and any other applicable ordinances of the City. <br /> <br />In connection with efforts and interest toward organizing Planning District No. 12 <br /> <br />for the area, as a part of the total planning program being developed by the <br /> <br />Division of Planning & Community Affairs of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Mayor <br /> <br />Renick--with Council's concurrence--named Vice-Mayor West and Mr. Leon Globman <br /> <br />(the latter being Chairman of the City's Planning Commission) as the City's <br /> <br />representatives. <br /> <br />As a result of recent negotiations, Council authorized the payment of $2,000.00 <br /> <br />to Mrs. Nannie I. Helms for portions of nine lots fronting on Rives Road Extended, <br /> <br />being part of right-of-way required for the reconstruction of the segment of this <br /> <br />street between Morrison Street and the City's south corporate limits. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that, by letter, the Virginia Department of <br /> <br />Highways--in response to Council's recent resolution--is placing BrooRdale Road <br /> <br />in line for preparation of plans toward improving and reconstructing this street <br /> <br />in accordance with said resolution. <br /> <br />Council was reminded of the forthcoming annual Virginia Municipal League meeting, <br /> <br />to be conducted in Williamsburg, Virginia, September 2Ist-22nd-23rd. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 2(b) of Chapter 5 of the City Charter, City Manager Noland <br /> <br />reported the removal of Mr. T. Ellis Hodgin, as Librarian of Martinsville Memorial <br /> <br />Public Library, during the afternoon of Friday, July 25, 1969. In connection <br /> <br />therewith and in connection with a suit filed against the City Manager by Mr. <br /> <br />Hodgin, and upon recommendation of City Attorney Cubine, Council authorized the <br />
