~ 'I
-:tb

TUESDAY

JULY 22, 1969

(with a total of 16,467 feet) and sidewalk projects (with a total of 992 feet),

with the understanding that--although the approved projects in footage exceed

the usual allotment of some 13,000 feet--probably some of these projects would

not be participated in by the property owners in time to be constructed during

the current year but would provide a sufficient number for proper construction

planning.

After reviewing the only two bids received for the current annual paving

program, viz., (1) Thompson-Arthur, in the amount of $50,207.02; and

(2) Adams Construction Company, in the amount of $59,173.32, Council accepted

the lower of these two bids, viz., that of Thompson-Arthur Paving Company.

In discussing the importance of the soon-to-be opened extension of Rives Road

from the City's southeast corporate limits to Route 220 Jrouth, it was noted

that progress is being made toward the securing of necessary right-of-way for

the beginning of construction of that portion of Rives Road lying between said

corporate limits and Morrison Street, within the City, negotiations being

reported as completed except for remaining parcel.

Pursuant to petition, dated July 15, 1969, Council granted permission to

Mr. & Mrs. Bennie J. Eanes and Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Hardy to extend the City's

six-inch water main on Grandview Drive, just outside the corporate limits

in the Chatham Heights area, from a water storage tank to--and including--lot

No.5, all at the expense of the abutting property owners and according to

existing policies and regulations of the City as applicable to such extension.
