<br />ADOPTED: June 24, 1969

<br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the
<br />
<br />following resolution urging the Virginia Department of Highways to complete
<br />
<br />and present (to the City) its Highway Transportation Study for the local
<br />
<br />area:
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Department of Highways (of the Commonwealth of Virginia)
<br />has already completed a great portion of the work relative to a
<br />comprehensive Transportation Study of the Martinsville-Henry County
<br />area, a study which will show anticipated highway needs, routes and
<br />probable costs for a reasonable time into the future; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Planning Commission and this City Council
<br />are in great need of this study as a vital part of attempts to prepare
<br />for the future; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
<br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fourth day of June, 1969,
<br />that said Department of Highways is hereby requested to expedite,
<br />insofar as is practicable, the completion and submission of this study.
