I qq
i- ~) ""

TUESDAY

JUNE 10, 1969

recommended by Mr. Frith, as well as of certain engineering-operating-financing

problems the City is facing--and will encounter--in meeting various needs and,

further, the interest and jurisdiction of the Henry County Public Service

Authority in serving needs within Henry County. Meanwhile, Mayor Renick cited

the limitation upon future growth of the entire community, unless adequate water

and sewer services are made available, and suggested--as a possible method of

providing such services--that some attention be given toward developing trans-

mission and treatment facilities from the ample water reservoir impounded by

Philpott Darn, west of Philpott, Virginia. After further discussion and upon

motion, unanimously carried, Council authorized Mr. Frith to extend a water

line, at his expense, to serve his new operations center, as requested.

Council acknowledged with appreciation a letter from Mr. Ralph W. Russell, II,

commenting on the cordial and warm welcome he has received as a new citizen

of Martinsville.

Council was adjourned.

"-

w. ~~ms-Cl~;;:k of Council
..............
