<br />QU <br />~() <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27, 1969 <br /> <br />After receiving from City Manager Noland his recommended City Budget for <br /> <br />the fiscal year ending June 30, 1970, being balanced in the total <br /> <br />estimated Silffi of $8,573,409.80 (including a recommended increase from <br /> <br />$2.00 to $2.25 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation on local <br /> <br />taxable real estate), Council placed same on first reading and called for <br /> <br />a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council on Tuesday, <br /> <br />June 17, 196~, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />By written petition and in person, Mr. Charles A. Womack, Executor of the <br /> <br />Estate of Dr. C. T. Womack, requested the rezoning from lIP_211 to lIC_111 <br /> <br />the home-place of the late Dr. Womack, situated at 18 Starling Avenue, <br /> <br />excluding a lot fronting on French Street. Council referred this petition <br /> <br />to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Mrs. Elizabeth M. Doss, on behalf of herself and other owners of property <br /> <br />within the 800 block of Forest Street and nearby Childress Drive, appeared <br /> <br />before Council in protest of the requested rezoning of Nationwide Homes <br /> <br />property (see request filed April 22, 1969) adjoining these citizens' <br /> <br />properties. This request having been referred to the Planning Commission <br /> <br />but not having been reported on back to Council by the Commission, Council <br /> <br />referred the opponents to the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />In connection with inquiry regarding surface water drainage onto Ellsworth <br /> <br />Street from the business properties fronting the southside of the 100-block <br />
