<br />:3U <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 11. 1 969 <br /> <br />...--- <br /> <br />In proclaiming March 14, 1969, as IIArbor Dayll for 1969, as requested by the <br /> <br /> <br />Council of Garden Clubs, Mayor Renick suggested that this observance might be <br /> <br /> <br />appropriate not only for the planting of dogwood trees but also for other <br /> <br /> <br />trees and shrubbery to enhance further the beauty of the community. <br /> <br />Council referred to Traffic & Planning Engineer Irving R. McGhee a suggestion, <br /> <br />relayed by Councilman Boaz, that some appropriate Ilwarning-of-dangerous-curvell <br /> <br />sign be posted near Chatham Heights Baptist Church in an effort to reduce <br /> <br />the number~-or hopefully eliminate--vehicular accidents at this point. <br /> <br />Council learned, with regrets, of the illness of Dr. James M. Suter, former <br /> <br />Acting Director of the local Health Department and directed its Clerk to <br /> <br />convey to Dr. Suter the Council's wishes for his early recovery. <br /> <br />Upon request of the Retail Merchants Association, Council granted permission <br /> <br />to this organization to Ilhangll artificial flower baskets on Oity Utility <br /> <br /> <br />fixtures in locations reserved for Christmas lighting decorations. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />w. <br /> <br /> <br />, Clerk of Council <br />
