:r

TUESDAY

JANUARY 14. 1969

--

A base charge of $0.21 per thousand gallons of flow discharged into
the City Sewerage System; plus a charge per thousand gallons of flow
covering the cost incurred by the City for the transportation and
treatment of sewage waste entering the City's Sewerage System. The
unit cost to be assessed the Authority by the City each year during
the period of the contract covering service to this area shall be
determined at the end of each calendar year based upon the actual
cost to the City for the treatment of sewage as determined by the
City audit. Therefore, the total unit charge for sewer service for
this area for the present year would be $0.21, plus $0.09, or a sum
of $0.30 per thousand gallons of sewage entering the City's Sewerage
System.

,-

Upon motion, Council authorized the executing (by appropriate City officials)

of agreement(s) with the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company whereby the

City is permitted to cross the right-of-way of said railway company with two

sewer lines (being part of the Jones Creek Sewer Interceptor) in the vicinity

of the Calaman Company property off Route 220 North.

Council referred to the Planning Commission~-for its consideration and

recommendation--a petition (dated January 14, 1969) submitted by Mr. M.

Harrison Joyce, Attorney at Law, on behalf of Messrs. W. Dudley Smith and

J. Wesley Smith, requesting the rezoning to IIM-111 of petitioners' property

of approximately 415.85 feet frontage on College Street.

Council also referred to the Planning Commission--for its consideration and

recommendation--a petition (dated January 13, 1969) from The First National

Bank (of Martinsville & Henry County), requesting the rezoning to IIC-211 of

its Lot #9 on the west side of Ellsworth Street. It was reported that the

owner of an adjoining lot, situated between said Lot #9 and other property

owned by petitioner, is agreeable to joining in the petition to obtain a

similar rezoning of his property.
