<br />G2 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 26, 1968 <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a petition submitted by Mr. Lawrence N. Rorrer requesting <br /> <br />the rezoning of his property at 413 East Church Street from IlR-6" to <br /> <br />np_21l. <br /> <br />Council also referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration <br /> <br />and recommendation, an application for a Special-Use Permit for a <br /> <br />proposed unified development, i.e., construction and operation of a <br /> <br />medical office building at the new site of Martinsville General Hospital <br /> <br />and other interested parties. In order to expedite the processing of this <br /> <br /> <br />application, Council suggested that a joint public hearing of the Council <br /> <br /> <br />and the Planning Commission be conducted at Council's second meeting in <br /> <br /> <br />December, to be held as soon after Christmas Day as possible in lieu of <br /> <br />Council's regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday (Christmas Eve), December <br /> <br />24, 1968. <br /> <br />Mr. C. P. Lamm, Division Manager of Lee Telephone Company, appeared before <br /> <br />Council and inquired as to whether Council intends presenting an official <br /> <br />statement of its position, if any, with respect to Lee Telephone Company's <br /> <br />rate application pending before the State Corporation Commission, on which <br /> <br />(application) a public hearing will be conducted by the Commission in <br /> <br />Richmond, Virginia, Tuesday, December 3rd. Mr. Lamm also inquired as to <br /> <br />whether Mr. william F. Stone, Attorney at Law and member of the Virginia <br /> <br />Senate (and, also, member of the special lias on-advisory committee appointed <br /> <br />for this matter by Council on May 28, 1968), will be representing the City <br /> <br /> <br />Council during his scheduled appearance before the Commission.
