<br />} 0 q <br />.\ .. , / <br />.1 t / .-' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 13. 1968 <br /> <br />Upon ruling and interpretation of City Attorney Cubine, it was determined that <br /> <br />the forthcoming organizational meeting of Council--required to be held September <br /> <br />1st following councilmanic elections, unless September 1st falls on a Sunday, in <br /> <br />which event such meeting(s) shall be held the Monday following--shall be <br /> <br />conducted Monday, Labor Day, September 2, 1968, beginning at 9:00 A.M. <br /> <br />Council was informed of the status of curb-and-gutter construction along the <br /> <br />section of Mulberry Road from Cherokee Trail to Valley View Road, wherein the <br /> <br />project remains incomplete because of non-participation by one property owner <br /> <br />in this section. Council was also informed of the status of like construction <br /> <br />scheduled for Valley View Road from Mulberry Road to Lombardy Court and to the <br /> <br />City's corporate limits, wherein owners of two properties on the east side of <br /> <br />Valley View Road--at the intersection of Lanier Road--have withdrawn their filed <br /> <br />consent thereto; whereupon, Council authorized the proceeding with the <br /> <br />construction of curb-and-gutter along the west side of Valley View Road to--and- <br /> <br />including--the Stanford Finney property. <br /> <br />Pursuant to recent action of the Henry County Board of Supervisors, Council <br /> <br />authorized the preparation and execution by City officials of a deed conveying <br /> <br />to the County of Henry the City's former "City Shop" building and adjacent <br /> <br />property (for the sum of $15,000.00), consisting of an area mutually agreed <br /> <br />upon and to be used by Henry County for expansion of its governmental facilities. <br /> <br />Pursuant to applicable City regulations and subject to future arrangements, if <br /> <br />any, with the Henry County Public Service Authority, Council authorized the <br /> <br />furnishing of sewer service--requested by J. & R. Insurance Agency (Roy C. <br /> <br />Stone, Vice President)--to an l10pen air" theater to be constructed along Route 667, <br /> <br />between Route 220 North and Koehler, Virginia, with applicant or customer to construct <br /> <br />necessary connecting line(s) and to pay at rate of 1t times "inside" rate. <br />
