<br />H2 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 9. 1968 <br /> <br />then presented Mr. John Lloyd Gregory--an employee and officer of the Fire <br /> <br />Department since September -1, 1947--as Mr. Easterly's successor as Fire Chief, <br /> <br /> <br />effective July 1, 1968. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the <br /> <br />executing of deed (dated July 8, 1968) conveying to Frith Construction Company, <br />Inc. (for the sum of $8,542.00) the tract of land in the Industrial Park <br />referred to in Council's minutes of May 28, 1968, and providing for furnishing <br />of water for domestic uses and fire-sprinklers in the building being <br />constructed on said tract, all in accordance with the City's regulations <br />applicable to development of the Industrial Park. <br /> <br />Council also unanimously approved (for executing) a proposed contract between <br /> <br />the City and the Three-T Investment Corporation for the development of the <br /> <br />subdivision owned by this corporation and located off Roundabout Road, which <br />subdivision was formerly the Wray Farm property. <br /> <br />Council received--and referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration <br /> <br /> <br />and reco~nendation--a petition presented by Mr. Sandy F. Pitzer, Jr., of 500 <br /> <br /> <br />Fifth Street, requesting the closing of a portion of "c" Street, west of <br /> <br />Fifth Street. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council was informed that the Virginia Department of Highways, pursuant to <br /> <br /> <br />authorizing resolution adopted by Council under date of June 11, 1968, has <br /> <br /> <br />begun the process of acquiring necessary right-of-way for the Route 57 <br /> <br /> <br />Relocation Project (including along Northside Drive) and, too, that bids <br /> <br /> <br />for construction involved will probably be invited during August, 1969. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />W.
