West abstaining from voting and from taking any <br /> <br />part in proceedings, because of his having been appointed a member of the <br /> <br />Board of Directors of the recently-chartered Virginia corporation identified <br /> <br />as I1Martinsville Cable Vision, Inc.", Council authorized the transfer to <br /> <br />said corporation of the "CATV" franchise granted C. Harry Anglin, T/A <br /> <br />Clear-View Cable Television Company, under date of March 22, 1966, effective <br /> <br />Ma..y 1, 1966. Also authorized was the transfer of the "pole attachment <br /> <br />agreement" dated May 25, 1966. The transferee informed Council that its <br /> <br />initial officers and directors are: <br /> <br />Mr. C. Harry Anglin, President & Director; <br />Mr. Robert Monroe (Charlottesville, Virginia), Executive <br />Vice President and Director; <br />Mr. Charles D. Weir (Bethesda, Maryland), Vice President & Director; <br />Mr. Robert B. Evans (Westmoreland Hills, Maryland), Secretary & <br />Director; <br />Mr. Marvin W. Cranshaw (Alexandria, Virginia)~ Director; <br />Mr. S. S. Flythe, Sr. (Martinsville, Virginia), Director; and <br />Mr. Francis T. West (Martinsville, Virginia), Director. <br /> <br />Having received the following bids for the City's 1968-69 street-paving <br /> <br />program, Council accepted the low bid of--and awarded contract to--Thompson- <br /> <br />Arthur Paving Company: <br />For: 46,281 sq. yds. "double seal"; <br />3,238 sq. yds. I1surface treatment"; and <br />6,443 tons "plant-mix". <br /> <br />Thompson-Arthur Paving Company <br />Adams Construction Company <br />Virginia Asphalt Paving Company <br /> <br />$61 ,871 .1 5 ; <br />$72,972.52; and <br />$78,516.95. <br /> <br />With appreciation and recognition of the outstanding services rendered the <br /> <br />City and the community by Mr. Clay A. Easterly in the capacity of Fire Chief <br /> <br />and Director of Inspections, since the beginning of his tenure on July 25, <br /> <br />1949, Council presented Mr. Easterly with an authorized token thereof upon <br /> <br />the occasion of his retirement as of June 30, 1968.
