Sprinkle, this land being situated between Ranson Road,

Rivermont Heights, and Smith Lake Road. Option consideration was in the

amount of $500.00, to apply toward total purchase price of $25,000.00, said

option being for a term of six months from June 10, 1968. City Manager Noland

informed Council that the six-month period should enable the City to process

application for Federal aid, inasmuch as such aid is available for park-and-

playground acquisition (and/or development), the intended purpose for which

the Sprinkle property will be purchased if option is exercised. Council was

informed that, while ingress and egress are available to the property (via

Smith Lake Road and/or Rivermont Road), acquisition of an adjoining lot from

the Spencer interests is desirable, that better entrance to the Sprinkle

tract be available.

-

City Manager Noland informed Council that the Division of Planning, of the

Virginia Governor's office, in conjunction with the Federal Census Bureau

program, is inviting participation by Virginia cities in a survey concerning
