')q '-'I..- APRIL 23, 1968 TUESDAY took these expressions under advisement, meanwhile expressing appreciation to the Corr@ittee for its research and study in the City's behalf. After acknowledging a notice of a public hearing to be conducted in Martinsville on May 2nd by the State Department of Highways on the proposed Route 57-Korthside Drive highway project, Council adopted the following resolution endorsing this project and, also, a resolution (as follows) requesting that consideration be given to an additional project which would connect the aforementioned project at its eastern terminus with a Route 58 at a new connection: (1) WHEREAS, the Department of Highways of the Commonwealth of Virginia has developed plans for the relocating and constructing of a portion of Route 57 within the corporate limits of the City of Martinsville; and WHEREAS, said plans have been reviewed with officials of the City of Martinsville, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third day of April, 1968, that it doth hereby endorse said plans and, furthermore, doth support the proceeding with the project (identified as Project 0057-120-103, with subsidiary projects) which extends from West Church Street to Chatham Road; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be filec with the Department of Highways of the Commonwealth of Virginia. (2) WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville has endorsed State Highway Project No. 0057-120-103, which provides for the relocating and constructing of a portion of Route 57 within the corporate limi ts of the Ci ty of Mart insville; and WHEREAS, said Council is of the opinion that said project should be extended from Chatham Road to a new connection with Route 58 East; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-third day of April, 1968, that it doth hereby endorse the proposed project which would extend from the terminus of Project 0058-120-103 on Chatham Road to a new connection with Route 58 East; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that a copy of this resolution shall be filed with the Department of Highways of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
