<br />/ t ') <br />at" ,., .i-J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 12. 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />December 12, 1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7: 30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., Mayor F'. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor E. E. <br /> <br />Stone; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held November 28, 1967. <br /> <br />Having considered Mr. H. C. Wright's proposed subdivision (lying in Henry County, <br /> <br />off Columbus Street in North Martinsville) referred by Council to the Planning <br /> <br />Commission from the Council's meeting of November 28, 1967, the Commission <br /> <br />presented the following report, which Council unanimously accepted and--in so <br /> <br />doing--authorized execution of subdivision contract with Mr. Wright subject to <br /> <br />the Commission's following recommendations and subject to all other applicable <br /> <br />rules and regulations: <br /> <br />In accordance with the ordinance governing utility extensions into areas <br />outside the City, the Planning Commission studied this subdivision and <br />dete]~ined that it meets the design standards as established for sub- <br />divi~;ions inside the City lying in the R-9 Residential District. It is <br />the recommendation of the Commission that the petitioner be required to <br />establish covenants on this subdivision which will in effect zone this <br />property to an R-9 Residential District inasmuch as contiguous land <br />inside the City in thi~; area is presently zoned an R-9 Residential. <br /> <br />Through Mi'. John D. Epperly, Attorney at Law and Chairman of the Martinsville- <br /> <br />Henry County Bar Association Library Committee, Council received the following <br /> <br />petition requesting the establishing and maintaining of a law library in the <br /> <br />new City Hall (now under construction): <br /> <br />The undersigned petitions Council that pursuant to Section 42-19.4 <br />of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, that Council enact an <br />ordinance assessing as a part of the costs incident to each civil action <br />
