<br />') '~ <br />"",-,. r } <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 24, 1967 <br /> <br />program inaugurated some seven years ago and that two minor replacement projects <br /> <br />remain to be constructed. <br /> <br />Upon being advised of the Planning COnmlission's approval and of compliance with <br /> <br />subdivision ordinance requirements, Council authorized the executing of a <br /> <br />contract with Mr. J. T. Weaver for the development of a subdivision ("Longview") <br /> <br />off Liberty Street, near the City's north corporate limits, for a distance of <br /> <br />some seven hundred feet and involving some twelve or thirteen residential lots, <br /> <br />in the direction of Oneida street, noting that this segTIlent will be developed <br /> <br />in accordance with Public Works Director George W. Brown's status report recorded <br /> <br />in the minutes of Council's meeting held September 13, 1967. <br /> <br />Councilman Francis T. West reported that a number of citizens residing in the <br /> <br />southeastern area of the City have complained of disturbing noise emanating from <br /> <br />manufacturing equipment of the Continental Can Company's plant in the City1s <br /> <br />Industrial Park. Other members of Council also indicated receipt of these complaints; <br /> <br />however, it was also reported that officials of the Continental Can Company are <br /> <br />aware of this condition and already are making every effort to reduce or abate <br /> <br />this noise. <br /> <br />Mr. William G. Pannill, President of Pannill Knitting Company, Inc., appeared <br /> <br />before Council to be placed on record in connection with a matter covered by the <br /> <br />following letter herein made a part of these minutes: <br /> <br />This will confirm the recordation of this letter in the official minutes <br />of Martinsville City Council's meeting duly held October 24, 1967, as a <br />means of acknowledging your appearance before the Council at this meeting <br />and your request--on behalf of Pannill Knitting Company, Inc.--pertaining <br />to subject project and the acquisition of right-of-way therefor, involving <br />your corporate interests. Therefore, being a part of these minutes, this <br />letter is subject to Council's ratification. <br />
