<br />~t 4} " '. <br />i '. t I <br />~ ,( /' \J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 24, 1967 <br /> <br />landscaping, utilities and architectural services; and the cost of providing <br />a limited amcunt of remodeling at the present Martinsville High School <br />buildings, located on Cleveland Avenue and Brown Street, in order to convert <br />these facilities for use as a junior high school; and providing for the <br />submission of the question of issuing said bonds to the qualified voters <br />of said City,1I adopted by the City Council of the City on March 24, 1966, <br />in anticip~tion of the receipt of the proceeds of the sale of the bonds <br />authorized to be issued by said bond ordinances. <br /> <br />(2) Negotiable notes of the City of the aggregate principal amount of <br />$1,646,000 shall be issued for all moneys borrowed pursuant to this <br />resolution. Each of said notes shall be designated "Public Improvement Bond <br />Anticipation Note". Said notes shall consist of two notes of the denomination <br />of $823,000, numbered 1 and 2, dated October 31, 1967, payable April 30, 1968, <br />bearing interest at the rate of 3.50% per annum, payable at maturity. <br /> <br />(3) The Mayor and Clerk of the Council are hereby authorized and directed <br />to cause said notes to be prepared and to execute said notes, and to deliver <br />said notes to Piedmont Trust Ban k, Martinsville, Virginia, in exchange <br />for said outstanding note upon paynlent of the interest payable with respect <br />to said outstanding note to the holder of said outstanding note. <br /> <br />The motion having been duly seconded, and the resolution having been considered, <br />it was adopted, Messrs. Boaz, Hartford, Renick, Stone, and West voting for the <br />resolution and not one voting against it. <br /> <br />In reviewing the bids received October 17, 1967, pursuant to duly-advertised invitation, <br /> <br />for the construction of the following sewerage facilities, Council accepted the lowest <br /> <br />bid submitted, viz., that of Prillaman & Pace, Inc., Martinsville, Virginia, as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />Division I - Smith River Interceptor from S7-9 to J-15: $124,509.00 <br />6,335 feet of 3611 diameter pipe, consiSting of 4,469 feet of <br />corrugated metal pipe and 1,866 feet of concrete pipe; and <br /> <br />Division II - Jones Creek Interceptor from J-15 to J-72: $208.954.00 <br />8,638 feet of 24" concrete pipe ) <br />1,781 feet of 21" concrete pipe ) <br />1,571 feet of 18" concrete pipe) total of 13,043 feet <br />943 feet of 1511 concrete pipe) <br />110 feet of 1211 conceret pipe) <br /> <br />Council awarded said contract to said Prillaman & Pace, subject to approval of the <br /> <br />State Water Control Board and the Federal Government, it being noted that Federal <br /> <br />Government approval is necessary in order that this project become eligible for <br /> <br />Federal aid. It was also noted that this project constitutes the last major phase <br /> <br />of the new construction contemplated under the City's sewerage system improvement <br />
