<br />22' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 10. 1967 <br /> <br />Pursuant to decision of Council at its September 26th meeting, Council authorized <br /> <br />the executing of a deed conveying seven acres of land within the City's Industrial <br /> <br />Park to the Frith Family Trust, subject to the conditions therein set forth, this <br /> <br />being a tract within the northwest boundary of the Park and adjoining the "outside" <br /> <br />tract referred to hereinabove. The deed stipulated--as agreed to by Council--the <br /> <br />sum of $14,000.00 for this tract. <br /> <br />With reference to City Manager Noland's memorandum dated October 2nd concerning <br /> <br />the proposed purchase of a "vacumn leaf-loader" machine, Council authorized the <br /> <br />purchase of such equipment and unanimously appropriated the sum of $3,500.00 <br /> <br />from the proceeds from the sale of land (Le., from the $14,000.00 hereinabove <br /> <br />cited) for the purchase of this equipment, to be used in the manner recommended <br /> <br />by City ME.nager Noland and Public Works Director George W. Brown. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Public Works Director Brown, Council authorized the <br /> <br />extending of curb-and-gutter (on a shared-cost basis) for a distance of 584 <br /> <br />feet along the south side of Corn Tassel Trail (1100 block) from a point on <br />said side previously authorized. <br /> <br />",- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the Martinsville-Henry County Health Department, <br /> <br />presented a refund of $1,194.62 from the Commonwealth of Virginia, representing <br /> <br /> <br />un-used funds appropriated by the City to the Health Department budget for the <br /> <br /> <br />year 1966-67. Dr. Mathes also reviewed certain activities of his department, <br /> <br /> <br />and, furthermore, inquired of Council as to its interest in an area feasibility <br /> <br />study towards establishing a "mosquito control district"; whereupon, Council <br /> <br />expressed favor toward such a study and offered the City's cooperation thereto. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />Clerk of Council <br />
