!)--t

TUESDAY

MARCH 28, 1967

Council unanimously accepted deeds from a number of property owners along

Barrows Mill Road, conveying to the City of necessary right-of-way

required for the constructing by the City (on a shared-cost basis) of

curb-and-gutter along this street between Burgess Street and Wood Street.

City Manager Noland reported that, from studies currently being made by

City Transit Company, there is some justifiable possibility that bus

service can be made available to the residents of Clearview Drive, from

Barrows Mill Road to the northeast corporate limits, as requested March

14, 1967 by residents of this street.

Subject to all applicable rules and regulations, Council authorized

Mrs. Lora Steagall (Route 5, Box 202, City) to extend a City water main

from State Route 57, for a distance of some 350 feet along State Road 662

(Clearview Drive), to a point opposite petitioner1s property to provide

water service at this and for this residential location, outside the City's

corporate limits.

City Manager Noland rendered a status report on the authorized relocation

of Route 57, indicating that the athletic field owned by Hooker Furniture

Company will not be involved thereby.

In connection with a discussion of proposed plans for widening and

relocating Mulberry Extension, between Starling Avenue and Cleveland

Street, the City School Board indicated its wishes to cooperate in this

venture but, meanwhile, also indicating its desire to retain use of the

uOld Central Grammar Schooltt building for storage purposes until either

the new Senior High School Building is completed or the proposed new

Patrick Henry Branch College facilities are completed, whichever is later.
