1 L!~

TUESDAY

MARCH 14. 1967

Council continued for final action, pending decisions to be made as to certain

details, tentative resolutions providing for the llNotice of Salell and the

selling of bonds authorized for sewerage system improvements, school facilities,

and municipal building facilities.

In connection with the bid received February 21, 1967, from Pittsburgh-Des

Moines Steel Company, for the construction and installation of permanent

coverings for several of the City's water storage units, Council accepted the

joint recommendation of Wiley & Wilson (Consulting Engineers), City Manager

Noland, and Public Works Director George W. Brown, that this project (identified

as llDivision III - Waterworks Improvementsll) be re-advertised for bids.

City Manager Noland informed Council that inquiry has been received indicating

an interest by a motor freight line in purchasing two acres of land in the

City's Industrial Park for a motor freight terminal. City Manager Noland also

raised thE point as to whether such a business located within the Industrial

Park would be in keeping with Council's original and long-range plans for

development of this property. Councilman West, meanwhile, went on record as

taking no part either in discussing this matter or voting upon the question

of whether to sell the property because of the fact that his business and plant

are located within the Industrial Park. After further discussion (Councilman

West abstc.ining), Council suggested (with Councilman West abstaining) that

City Manager Noland confer further with the representatives of the motor

freight line to ascertain their wishes as to site location in order that

Council might weigh these wishes with its plans for development of the entire

area.
