l-4G TUESDAY FEBRUARY 28, 1967 WHEREAS, by petition dated December 31, 1966 and filed with Martinsville City Council on January 10, 1967, Sale Knitting Company, Inc., requested the discontinuance and abandonment of that certain street known as Rives Street, of which Sale Knitting Company is the abutting property owner; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to said petition, Martinsville City Council appointed a Board of Viewers to perform the duties set forth in Section 15.1-364 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, and as amended; and WHEREAS, said Board of Viewers has duly performed said duties and has determined that no inconvenience will result to anyone whatsoever by the discontinuance and abandonment of said Rives Street; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-eighth day of February, 1967, that it doth hereby accept the findings of said Board of Viewers and doth hereby order the discontinuance and abandonment of said Rives Street, being more particularly described as follows, to wit: BEGINNING at a point, said point marking the south end of the west side of Rives Street, thence with the west side of Rives Street, N. 220 11' W. approximately 897 feet to a point marking the north end of the west side of Rives Street, thence in a northeasterly direction across Rives Street to a point marking the north end of the east side of Rives Street, thence with the east side of Rives Street S. 220 11' E. 901 feet to a point marking the south end of the east side of Rives Street, thence in a southwesterly direction across Rives Street to the point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that a copy of this ordinance shall forth- with be filed with the Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of Martinsville, Virginia. Mr. Donald R. Reed, of Berta Road, appeared before Council and expressed dis-satisfaction with the operation of busses by Rapid Transit Company, as it involves the transportation of children to and from p~blic schools in the City, especially in those instances where small children may have lost or mis-placed their purchased bus passes. Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the Martinsville-Henry County Health Department, p~esented the annual statistical report of the Health Department for the year 1 966 .
