14

TUESDAY

FEBRUARY 14~ 1967

,#"",-......

Having been informed that the City's Fire Department (including its Volunteer

Fire Department) has no need for its abandoned 1924 MOdel AMERICAN-LaFRANCE fire

engine (pumper) and attaches no value to this vehicle and, further, desires not

to restore the vehicle for display purposes, Council unanimously authorized its

sale, for the sum of one dollar ($1.00), to Mr. Ralph E. (Mike) Seidle, Jr.,

who since March of 1965 has been on record with Council as desiring to acquire

this vehicle.

.,.-.

Council referred to the Planning Commission--for its consideration and

recommendation--a request submitted jointly by Mr. P. H. Fussell and Mr. Ernest

H. Williams that the City provide water and sewer service to a proposed sub-

division (identified as Vernon Hills Estates), consisting of 7.57 acres of land

owned by t~ssrs. Fussell and Williams and located outside the City's corporate

limits off the Old Danville Road, generally opposite the intersection of Hunting
Ridge Road and Old Danville Road.

,,-

Mr. D. B. Hanel, Commissioner of the Revenue, informed Council of problems he

is encountering in appraising new construction for tax purposes and, also, of

the need for expert services in appraising machinery and tools on a more current

basis. Mr. Hanel further suggested that it might be advantageous to the City to

establish a permanent assessment procedure and to employ--through the Commissioner's

office--a permanent appraisor or assessor who might combine the duties of license

enforcement with assessment duties.

},-,

Upon motion, Council appropriated to the use of the City's Public Library the sum

of $3,591.00 to be granted to the City (for this use) by the Federal Government.

Council was adjourned.

w. ~:\7~~~~ -;~e~ of Council
