on

TUESDAY

SEPTEMBER 27, 1966

supplementing previous contracts of record for the development of the Kenmar

Farms Subdivision off the south side of Mulberry Road, approaching Forest

Park Country Club and, furthermore, providing for the development of a

portion of the subdivision as though it were within the City's corporate

limits prior to annexation thereof by the City on January 1, 1965.

Dr. C. J. Mathes, Director of the Martinsville-Henry County Health Department,

briefly commented on several aspects of the Health Department and its

activities, as follows:

( 1 )
( 2)
(3)
( 4)

the local crippled children's clinic, 1965-66;
personnel vacancies within the local health unit;
local rodent control program, authorized by Council July 12, 1966;
and
unsanitary conditions of a walkway between the Globman building
and the Chief Tassel building, as well as enforcement procedures
soon to be initiated.

Council was reminded that the time is now appropriate for the establishing of

a local Board of Equalization to perform the duties required by law in

connection with the 1966 (quadrennial) reassessment of local taxable property.

Council referred to the Planning Commission--for its consideration and

recommendation--a petition submitted by Mr. J. Grady Monday, Attorney at Law

and Counsel for Mrs. Evelyn H. Stone (Trustee), petitioner, requesting the

rezoning from lfR-6 Residential" to "C-3 Commercial" a tract of land identified

in petition and located generally adjacent to and east of Memorial Boulevard

South, between a tier of lots fronting the south side of Rivermont Heights and

a tier of lots fronting the north side of Overton Street. Petition also

included request that uses under "C-3 Commercial" zoning be amended to include

"go]f driving range - for public recreation".

Council was adjourned.

w. i)~~~vci~rk of Council
