Kolodny Estate <br />property and the northwest corner of Gravely Street; and, also, <br />all properties fronting on the north side of Gravely Street <br />between South Moss Street and the east line of the City's <br />p-:-operty fronting on the north side of Gravely Street. <br /> <br />In acceptance of recommendation of the Planning Commission, Council reaffirmed <br /> <br />its action of May 31, 1966, in granting a "special-use" permit to Mr. Leonard <br /> <br />W. Hurrell (Martinsville Dental Laboratory) to allow dental-office occupancy <br /> <br />of property at 14 South Moss Street. <br /> <br />Confirming its policy tentatively established October 12, 1965, Council <br /> <br />unanimously directed that the sum of fifty dollars be given each City employee <br /> <br />upon the occasion of his retirement--under the City's mandatory retirement <br /> <br />regulations--and that each such employee be invited to appear before Council <br /> <br />on such occasion to receive this gift in token of appreciation. Council also <br /> <br />directed that this policy be retroactive to living retired enployees and that <br /> <br />such employees be invited to appear, as a group, before Council in the very <br /> <br />near future for appropriate recognition. <br /> <br />Mr. John D. Epperly, Attorney at Law, again appeared before Council on behaLf <br /> <br />of the local Retail Merchants Association and this group's petition--filed <br /> <br />May 24, 1966--requesting the abolition of the City's gross receipts license <br /> <br />tax on local retail merchants, beginning May 1, 1967. Council indicated that <br /> <br />this request is now under study. <br /> <br />Mrs. R. H. Appelby, of 310 Brown Street, appeared before Council and urged <br /> <br />Council to enact a more stringent or restrictive dog ordinance, i.e., to <br /> <br />prohibit dogs running-at-Iarge and to attempt to prevent a recurrence anywhere <br />
