<br />5' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 24, 1966 <br /> <br />1. Provide underground distribution at a cost of $100.00 per <br />lot to the developer for subdivisions of 20 or more lots. <br /> <br />2. The City to supply up to, but not exceeding, 150 feet of <br />service conductor wire for installation by owner. <br /> <br />3. The City should specifically designate the meter location. <br /> <br />4. The City not be required to install overhead lines in order <br />to give temporary service until underground can be installed. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Pursuant to, and in acceptance of, the Planning Commission's recommendations <br /> <br />submitted under date of May 23, 1966, Council issued a I1special-use" permit <br /> <br />Q~der Section VIII, Subsection C, Paragraph 1, of the City's Zoning Ordinance, <br /> <br />to Virginia Landmark Corporation (Mr. James E. Covington, represented by <br /> <br />Mr. Stafford G. Whittle, III) to construct an apartment complex on the north <br /> <br />side of Spruce Street, generally opposite the intersection of Spruce Street <br /> <br />and Auburn Place, subject to the condition that all plantings to the east of the <br /> <br />entrance to the complex be subject to the approval of the City's Traffic & <br /> <br />Planning Engineer. <br /> <br />Council tentatively accepted the Planning Commission's recommendations, also <br /> <br />dated May 23, 1966, subject to pending public hearing by the Council on <br /> <br />May 31, 1966, by which a "special-use" permit might be granted to Mr. R. T. <br /> <br />Hamre(Stratford Square Apartments project, represented by Mr. Robert E. Saville) <br /> <br />to construct an apartment complex on a tract of land north of the First <br /> <br />Presbyterian Church property off East Church Street Extended, provided the <br /> <br />developer will build and maintain an access for all apartment units to Madison <br /> <br />Street, concurrent with the construction of "phase one" of the development as <br /> <br />planned. <br /> <br />Mr. William U. Starkey, Manager of Southwestern Virginia Gas Company, notified <br /> <br />Council that his firm has filed a rate revision application with the State <br />
