<br />~o <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 10, 1966 <br /> <br />public hearings be conducted on the remaining three petitions at a special <br /> <br /> <br />Council meeting to be held Tuesday, May 31, 1966, in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Council was informed that the Planning <br /> <br /> <br />Commission will render its reports on these four matters at Council's <br /> <br /> <br />forthcoming Hay 24th meeting. <br /> <br />In reviewing the offer of the First Baptist Church, referred to in Council1s <br /> <br />minutes of September 8, 1964, to donate five feet of right-of-way along the <br /> <br />church property on the north side of Mulberry Road if the City will \~den the <br /> <br />section of Mulberry Road (on the north side) from Oakdale Street to Starling <br /> <br />Avenue, Council '.vas apprised of the condition attached to the offer, viz., <br /> <br />tha t the Hidening be completed before June 30, 1966. Council directed the <br /> <br />acceptance of said offer as well as the widening of the north side of Mulberry <br /> <br />Road along the church property and, in addition, requested that every effort <br /> <br />be made to secure like right-of -way from the 'vJ. H. Gravely property adjoining <br /> <br />the church property and Oakdale Street. Council further stipulated that--if <br /> <br /> <br />the widening alongside the church property can not be accomplished before <br /> <br />June 30, 1966--a request for an extension of the f1d2adline" be filed Hith the <br /> <br />First Baptist Church. <br /> <br />In connection with the CATV franchise recently awarded to Clearview Cable <br /> <br />Television Company, Counci I '.vas informed that a subsequent petition for f1vJri t <br /> <br />of mandamus" filed by VI.L. W. Corporation '.vas denied by Martinsville Corporation <br /> <br />Court on May 5, 1966. Council was also informed that ClearvieH Cable Television <br /> <br />Company has complied with certain terms of the franchise ordinance, viz., (1) <br /> <br />has filed written acceptance of the franchise '..vi thin the prescribed time limi t; <br /> <br />(2) has deposited with the City the sum of $5,000.00, as offered in bid <br /> <br />proposal; and (3) has reimbursed the City for the cos t of advertising the <br />
