25

MONDAY

FEBRUARY 28, 1966

Council's approval, one channel for "public servicell programs, at cost; would

provide, with Council's approval, emergency alarm service at terminal cost;

and would invest $25,000.00 in promotional advertising during the first six

months. In response to inquiry, Mr. Womack explained that the W. L. W.

Corporation is a service enterprise, operating under "tax-option" regulations,

and owned by himself and his children.

Astorney Stephen D. lI,artin, Jr., representing Booth American Company, contended

that the W. L. W. Corporation has not complied with provisions of the invitation

to bidders, i. e., no bond was filed as required; that the llmarket potential"

submitted by his company, being conservative when compared with expectations

of the other two bidders, is realistic; and that his client is financially able

to furnish CATV service to Martinsville residents.

Mr. C. Harry Anglin, of Clear-View Cable Television Company, informed Council

that requested financial data has been filed, indicating adequate financial

ability to provide CATV service; and that the Ilmarket potentiaP, as anticipated

by his firm, is sound.

Council informed the bidders that it would continued this matter for further

consideration.

Council was adjourned.

'\
) ,
c ,,_' ;) ~ S-- \-".ac, - .~.

W.
