<br />20 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 22, 1966 <br /> <br />"School Bond Referendum" ordinance, calling for a referendum on the question <br /> <br />of issuing $3,000,000.00 of the City's bonds to finance the cost of projects <br /> <br />recommended by the City School Board on February 8th and as set forth in <br /> <br />said ordinance: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE VF THREE MILLION DOLLARS <br />($3,000,000) OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE TV FINANCE <br />THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND EQUIPPING A NEW SENION HIGH <br />SCHOOL ON NORTH SIDE DRIVE AND PROVIDING THE NECESSARY ACCESS, <br />GRADING, DRAINAGE, LM~DSCAPING, UTILITIES AND ARCHITECTURAL <br />SERVICES; AND THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND EQUIPPING A <br />VOCATIONAL SHOP AND FACILITIES AT THE ALBERT HARRIS HIGH <br />SCHOOL AND PROVIDING THE NECESSARY ACCESS, GRADING, DRAINAGE, <br />LANDSCAPING, UTILITIES AND ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES; AND THE <br />COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND EQUIPPING AN ADDITION TO THE SHOP <br />ON BROWN STREET AND PROVIDING THE NECESSARY ACCESS, GRADING, <br />DRAINAGE, LANDSCAPING, UTILITIES AND ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES; <br />AND THE COST OF PROVIDING A LIMITED AMOUNT OF REMODELING AT <br />THE PRESENT MARTINSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDINGS, LOCATED ON <br />CLEVELAND AVENUE AND BROWN STREET, IN ORDER TV CONVERT THESE <br />FACILITIES FOR USE AS A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL; AND PROVIDING <br />FOR THE SUBMISSION OF THE QUESTION OF ISSUING SAID BONDS TO <br />THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION I: The Council of the City of Martinsville has <br />ascertained and hereby determines that it is expedient that <br />said City shall borrow money and contract indebtedness and <br />issue its bonds, as hereinafter provided, to finance the cost <br />of constructing and equipping a new senior high school on <br />North Side Drive and providing the necessary access, grading, <br />drainage, landscaping, utilities and architectural services; <br />and the cost of constructing and equipping a vocational shop <br />and facilities at the Albert Harris High School and providing <br />the necessary access, grading, drainage, landscaping, utilities <br />and architectural services; and the cost of constructing and <br />equipping an addition to the shop on Brown Street and providing <br />the necessary access, grading, drainage, landscaping, utilities <br />and arahitectural services; and the cost of providing a <br />limited amount of remodeling at the present Martinsville High <br />School buildings, located on Cleveland Avenue and Brown Street, <br />in order to convert these facilities for use as a junior high' <br />school. <br /> <br />SECTION II: In order to finance the cost of constructing and <br />equipping said new high school buildings, said new vocational <br />shop and facilities at Albert Harris High School, said shop <br />on Brown Street, and providing necessary access, grading, <br />drainage, landscaping, utilities and architectural services <br />therefor, and providing a limited amount of remodeling at the <br />
