<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 11, 1966 <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />relating same to the proposed Smith River Interceptor line and, particularly, <br /> <br />to the advisability of constructing a proposed sewer line tunnel (1,800' in <br /> <br />length) vs. a pumping station. Mutual advantages of constructing a new <br /> <br />connecting highway along the route of the sewer line were also cited. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown then reported on recent conferences with the Virginia Department of <br /> <br /> <br />Highways on the relocating of Route 57 from its intersection with Route 58 <br /> <br /> <br />East and along the area of Northside Drive. Members of Council expressed the <br /> <br /> <br />desire that this project include some form of a IIcloverleafll at its inter- <br /> <br />section with the proposed line of Fairy Street Extension, in view of the <br /> <br />anticipated development of property in that area. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland presented a status report on developments to date for a <br /> <br />new Post Office for Martinsville. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's reports and recommendations <br /> <br />on the following proposals, Council called for duly-advertised public hearings <br /> <br />to be conducted by Council at its forthcoming February 8th meeting: <br /> <br />(1) Lacy Manufacturing Property Rezoning -- involving its property in <br /> <br />the vicinity of Adele Street, adjacent to its present plant site __ <br />to IIM-2 Industrial"; <br />(2) North Martinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church Property Rezoning <br />in the vicinity of Liberty Street and Lester's Lane -- to "C-3 <br />Commercial"; and <br />(3) Recommended amendment to Section 5, Subsection H, Paragraph 9, of <br /> <br />the Zoning Code, in connection with petition filed by Druid Lanes <br /> <br />Bowling Center requesting permission to operate a billiard parlor <br /> <br />in conjunction with its bowling operations at its premises located <br /> <br />at 1051 Spruce Street. <br />
