)86 TUESDAY AUGUST 22, 1972 III. BE IT RESOLVED by City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, that Thomas B. Noland, City Manager, is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of the City of Martinsville, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Virginia, this application and to file it in the appropriate State office for the purpose of obtaining certain Federal financial assistance under the Disaster Relief Act (Public Law 606, 9lst Congress). In receiving and reviewing the following bids for construction of water and sewer lines along the proposed Lester Street extension (being for 1,495' of 16" water main; 1,842' of various sizes of sanitary sewer mains; and 560' of various sizes of storm sewer lines), Council unanimously accepted the lowest of the three bids, viz., that of Prillaman & Pace, Inc.: Bryant's Plumbing & Heating $70,641.00; Laramore Construction Company $74'}950.00; and Prillaman & Pace, Inc. $69,500.00. Members of Council, noting that the meeting herein covered by these minutes is the last regular meeting of Mayor Renick as a member of Council and that his term of office expires on August 31, 1972, expressed appreciation of Mayor Renick's outstanding service to the City during his twelve years (since September 1, 1960) as a member of Council, the first six of which he served as Vice-Mayor and the last six as Mayor; and, also, their pleasure and privilege in having been associated with him during the years each has served on Council, with Councilman Boaz being the only member of Council whose tenure began and has consecutively run with Mayor Renick's.
