<br />)86 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 22, 1972 <br /> <br />III. BE IT RESOLVED by City Council of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />that Thomas B. Noland, City Manager, is hereby authorized <br />to execute for and in behalf of the City of Martinsville, <br />a public entity established under the laws of the State of <br />Virginia, this application and to file it in the appropriate <br />State office for the purpose of obtaining certain Federal <br />financial assistance under the Disaster Relief Act (Public <br />Law 606, 9lst Congress). <br /> <br />In receiving and reviewing the following bids for construction of water <br /> <br />and sewer lines along the proposed Lester Street extension (being for <br /> <br />1,495' of 16" water main; 1,842' of various sizes of sanitary sewer <br /> <br />mains; and 560' of various sizes of storm sewer lines), Council unanimously <br /> <br />accepted the lowest of the three bids, viz., that of Prillaman & Pace, Inc.: <br /> <br />Bryant's Plumbing & Heating <br /> <br />$70,641.00; <br /> <br />Laramore Construction Company <br /> <br />$74'}950.00; and <br /> <br />Prillaman & Pace, Inc. <br /> <br />$69,500.00. <br /> <br />Members of Council, noting that the meeting herein covered by these minutes <br /> <br />is the last regular meeting of Mayor Renick as a member of Council and that <br /> <br />his term of office expires on August 31, 1972, expressed appreciation of Mayor <br /> <br />Renick's outstanding service to the City during his twelve years (since September <br /> <br />1, 1960) as a member of Council, the first six of which he served as Vice-Mayor <br /> <br />and the last six as Mayor; and, also, their pleasure and privilege in having <br /> <br />been associated with him during the years each has served on Council, with <br /> <br />Councilman Boaz being the only member of Council whose tenure began and <br /> <br />has consecutively run with Mayor Renick's. As a token of their appreciation, <br /> <br />Council (through Vice-Mayor West) presented to Dr. Renick his desk-plate and <br /> <br />name-plate. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />,~.~~,. n"'.~ <br />W.
