3(

TUESDAY

JULY 11, 1972

With appreciation expressed to the various individuals and/or organizations

involved, Council accepted--at no cost to the City--six deeds from property

owners within the section of Rivermont Heights on which curb-and-gutter is

being constructed, as well as approved an exchange deed with Kearfott Memorial

Church, to improve the alignment of this section coincident with the curb-and-

gutter construction.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council called for a duly-

advertised public hearing--to be conducted jointly with the Planning Commission--

for Council's forthcoming August 8th meeting, on a Proposed Land Use Plan

developed by the West Piedmont Planning District Commission.

Council scheduled its annual "street tour", in connection with filed curb-and-

gutter petitions to be considered for the 1972-73 construction program, for

Tuesday, July 18, 1972.

With appreciation expressed for the invitation (by letter dated July 10, 1972),

and for reasons heretofore expressed in joint conferences with the Henry County

Board of Supervisors, Council respectfully declined to participate with the

County of Henry in building a regional jail facility at the Kings Mountain Road

site recently selected by the Supervisors. Meanwhile, upon motion by Vice-Mayor

West, Council respectfully requested the Henry County Board of Supervisors to

give consideration to selling back to the City, for the same sum of $15,000.00

(plus 6% interest) when sold to the County of Henry by Council's action of

August 13, 1968, the former "City Shop" property off Jones Street, which property

was sold to the County of Henry with the understanding that Henry County would

use said property "for expansion of its governmental facilities".
