<br />3( <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 27, 1972 <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />(2) Lester Street, from its intersection with East Church Street <br />northward along proposed extension thereof to the Route 57 <br />relocation, to be named (and remain) Lester Street; <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />(3) Ellsworth Street, from its intersection with East Church <br />Street southward, and the ultimate extension thereof southward <br />across Maple Street to Broad Street and along Broad Street to <br />Memorial Boulevard, to be named (and remain) Ellsworth Street; <br />(4) The short portion of Northside Drive, isolated by the Route 57 <br />relocation, between Fairy Street and East Church Street, to be <br />named Hooker Street; and <br />(5) The portion of the Route 57 relocation between present Armory <br />Road and Church Street, and its ultimate extension to Memorial <br />Boulevard, to be named Market Street. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a Public <br /> <br />Hearing on the City Manager's proposed budget--subsequently revised pursuant <br /> <br />to Council's instructions--for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1972, which <br /> <br />revised budget calls for no tax increases during the fiscal year. A number <br /> <br />of young people, representing the youth groups of the First United Methodist <br /> <br />Church and several other churches, ualled Council's attention to the fact that <br /> <br />the programs sponsored by them--in conjunction with the City's Department of <br /> <br />Social Services--whereby facilities and personnel are provided by the youth <br /> <br />groups, as they have done the past two summers, to make available free lunches <br /> <br />for indigent children in the programs, have been jeopardized for the current <br /> <br />summer because of unavailability of Social Services funds and personnel. <br /> <br />After some discussion, when it was revealed that the City's financial cost is <br /> <br />estimated to be only $500.00 and, too, Council was informed that Social Services <br /> <br />assistance will continue, Council directed that the net cost of $500.00 to the <br /> <br />City for the 1972 summer programs be allocated for this purpose. Also, upon <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded and by recorded unanimous vote, Council adopted the <br /> <br />proposed budget, as revised, for the 1972-73 year, summarized in the following <br /> <br />appropriation ordinance; <br />
