(F {} TUESDAY DECEMBER 28, 1971 that he be authorized to attempt to secure 90% of the salary of an additional patrolman for the Police Department and, also, if Federal funds are adequate, to employ a person (on a non-permanent basis) to be assigned to preparing a supplementary index of Council minutes. City Manager Noland proposed, further, that the salary of the additional patrolman would become locally financed once the Federal funds are terminated, meanwhile enabling the Police Department to assign or promote someone within the department to the position of Community Services Officer, need for which was cited by both City Manager Noland and Police Chief Williams. Following some discussion, Council authorized the employing of one additional patrolman. In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's report and recommendation (dated December 27, 1971) that the rezoning petition filed November 9, 1971, by Messrs. David Prillaman and W. W. Wingfield, be approved, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be held on this petition at Council's regular meeting to be conducted Tuesday, January 25, 1972. Said petition, as amended and if approved, would effect a "C-l Commercial" zoning of Lots Nos. 6, 7 and 8 situated on the south side of Clearview Drive, adjacent to present "C-l Commercial" zoning east of property occupied by Taylor's Supermarket.
