<br />2~ <br /> <br />TUE SDA Y <br /> <br />DECEMBER l4, 1971 <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />Mr. Jackson L. Kiser, Attorney at Law (of Young, Kiser & Haskins, Attorneys at <br /> <br />Law), appeared before Council on behalf of the firm Fralin & Waldron, and <br /> <br />presented an application for a Special-Use Permit which would allow petitioner(s) <br /> <br />to construct an apartment complex in the Clearview Drive area. Petitioner also <br /> <br />requested that the Planning Commission and the Council conduct jointly the <br /> <br />required public hearings on this application. Council referred this application <br /> <br />to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Council continued the inquiry from City Manager Noland as to whether the City <br /> <br />should file an application for special project funds from the Federal Government <br /> <br />to employ for a limited period of time an unemployed person or an "under- <br /> <br />employed" person through the State Employment Commission, such person being <br /> <br />assigned, for example, to developing a topical and chronological index of City <br /> <br />Council minute.s. <br /> <br />Mr. John D. Epperly, Attorney at Law (of Broaddus, Epperly, Broaddus & Williams, <br /> <br />Attorneys at Law), appeared before Council on behalf of Roselawn Burial Park, <br /> <br />requesting the rezoning of petitioner's property adjacent to its offices or the <br /> <br />issuance of a Special-Use Permit to allow petitioner to construct a funeral chapel <br /> <br />on said property. Council referred this request to the Planning Commission for <br /> <br />its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved the request <br /> <br />of Mr. Gary W. Smith (of Route 5, Box 230-A) for permission to extend a City <br /> <br />water line to perve petitioner's lots Nos. 8, 9, lO and ll, situated on State <br /> <br />Route 940, Woodland Heights Subdivision, subject to this being in conformance with <br /> <br />the City's general policy applicable to water line extensions in this subdivision <br /> <br />and, also, subject to compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements <br /> <br />of the City. <br />
