Council

suggested that Mr. Brown give further study to this matter and report thereon

to Council.

Mayor Renick, emphasizing no adverse reflection upon the City's Police

Department or its Chief, called Council's attention to the growing "drug"

problem within the City and urged that an "all-out" campaign be initiated and

maintained to apprehend and convict those persons who supply and sell drugs,

meanwhile suggesting that, if it is necessary to employ additional law enforcement

personnel to combat this problem successfully, such additional personnel should

be employed. Police Chief Jesse W. Williams informed Council that he is aware

of the problem and has been giving it serious study, looking toward incorporating

his recommendations thereon in his 1972-73 budget request.

Mr. C. A. Trull, who resides at 14 Bondurant Street and is separated only by

Church Street Extended from the City Park, informed Council that during recent

months, particularly in the evening hours, usage of City Park has not been in

keeping with the intent and design thereof, thereby at times creating conditions

which Mr. Trull described as "intolerable" to the neighborhood. Council took

this matter under advisement.

Council was adjourned.

W. H.)~~~k of Council

<'......., -~,_.~.,,,"".""" ",."
