<br />')1 <br />- <br /> <br />TUESD~X. <br /> <br />OCTOBER l2, 1971 <br /> <br />,~ <br /> <br />A petition filed by Mr. J. T. Weaver, requesting the rezoning from "R-9 <br /> <br />Residentialll to "C-l Commercial" of two lots (identified as No. 8 and No.9) <br /> <br />fronting Liberty Street within Mr. Weaver's subdivision near the City's north <br /> <br />corporate limits, was referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration <br /> <br />and recommendation. <br /> <br />In connection with the developing of a proposed Master Plan and Central Business <br /> <br />District Studies, Mr. Frank D. Fulton (Vice President & Trust Officer of The <br /> <br />First National Bank of Martinsville & Henry County) informed Council that local <br /> <br />and area business interests and individuals have contributed and/or pledged in <br /> <br />total the sum of $50,000.00 toward the cost of said Plan and Studies, which <br /> <br />(sum)--with the City's $35,000.00 appropriation in its current budget for this <br /> <br />purpose--should be sufficient to finance the cost thereof; whereupon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and carried, in acceptance of City Manager Noland's recommendation, <br /> <br />Council authorized the executing of appropriate contracts for this purpose with <br /> <br />Wiley & Wilson, Consulting Engineers (estimated cost $53,100.00), and Evans & <br /> <br />Knight (estimated cost $34,400.00). <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the City's duly-appointed Plumbing Code Revision Committee, <br /> <br />Council placed on first reading the following ordinance which, if and when finally <br /> <br />enacted, will adopt the 1971 edition of the Southern Standard Plumbing Code as the <br /> <br />City's Plumbing Code: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, <br />VIRGINIA, ENTITLED "BUILDING CODE, MARTINSVILLE, 196711, BY ADDING <br />THERETO AND MAKING A PART THEREOF, AS "PART II, PLUMBINGII, THE 1971 <br />EDITION OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD PLUMBING CODE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by a report submitted through the City Manager of Martinsville <br />to the Martinsville City Council on October l2, 1971, a duly-appointed <br />Plumbing Code Revision Committee recommended that the 1971 edition of <br />the Southern Standard Plumbing Code be adopted by the Council of the <br />City of Martinsville as the official Plumbing Code of said City; and <br /> <br />---~,..."------_..-._...__.._~._,..._._-_.._._.._-- ------~--_.._.._--_._-------"'--------_._...- <br />
