<br />r i) <br />,) \ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 2l, 1971 <br /> <br />of sewer and water grants previously allocated and announced by the State Water <br /> <br />Control Board (City of Martinsville - allocation of $744,400 for 1972-73, for <br /> <br />which interim plan is needed by December 1, 1971). Although assurance has been <br /> <br />given by the State Water Control Board that its previously-announced allocations <br /> <br />will be forthcoming, future grants are contingent upon the preparation of a <br /> <br />regional water and sewer plan, the cost of which has been estimated as being <br /> <br />$47,000.00 with the City's share set at $4,208.00 (on a per-capita basis). <br /> <br />Council continued this matter to its forthcoming September 28th meeting. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Public Works Director George W. Brown, Council authorized <br /> <br />the execution by City officials of a contract with Wiley & Wilson, Consulting <br /> <br />Engineers, whereby said Wiley & Wilson will prepare construction plans and <br /> <br />specifications for the City's proposed secondary waste treatment facilities, for <br /> <br />which the City will pay Wiley & Wilson on a cost-plus basis. <br /> <br />A request filed by Lester Lumber Company, Inc., for City sewer service at <br /> <br />petitioner's premises (former cinder-block plant) at Koehler, was held in <br /> <br />abeyance at petitioner's subsequent request. <br /> <br />Council unanimously granted--upon Public Works Director George W. Brown's <br /> <br />recommendation--the petition filed by Mr. Wayne D. Bryant requesting permission <br /> <br />to extend a City water main on Edgewood Place from the nearby J. H. Ramsey <br /> <br />property, for a distance of approximately sixty feet, to provide City water <br /> <br />service to Mr. Bryant's residential premises. <br /> <br />Councilman W.
