(" <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 24, 1971 <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />current year's construction program, Council approved said request to accommodate <br /> <br />petitioner's improvement program as well as to provide needed sidewalk for the <br /> <br />many pedestrians using this side of the street. <br /> <br />By letter~~ated August 24, 1971, and in person, Mr. James W. Severt, President <br /> <br />of Nationwide Homes, Inc., appealed to Council for (1) the waiving of the City's <br /> <br />,,""-" <br /> <br />wide-load permit fees and (2) the removing of the City's routing and time-of-travel <br /> <br />regulations as they apply to the transporting by Nationwide Homes of its products <br /> <br />(modular homes) over City streets. After some discussion, Council continued to <br /> <br />its forthcoming September 21st meeting that portion of petitioner's request <br /> <br />pertaining to routing and times-of-travel, directing that interim study be given <br /> <br />this matter by City officials in consultation with petitioner and that report and <br /> <br />recommendations thereon be presented at said September 21st meeting. Meanwhile, <br /> <br />upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council directed that the <br /> <br />City's wide-load permit fees be waived for in-City modular home manufacturers. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that he will relay to the members thereof <br /> <br />a proposed Reorganizational Plan for the Virginia Municipal League, consideration <br /> <br />of which will probably be before the forthcoming annual meeting of the League to <br /> <br />be conducted in Virginia Beach (September 12th-l4th). <br /> <br />Coincident with the distribution of copies of the new City Code (l971), and with <br /> <br />attention being directed to need for correcting a footnote reference on page 79 <br /> <br />thereof, City Attorney Cubine asked that he be furnished with any other points <br /> <br />which need correcting in order that he might compile and relay to the publisher. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />* See page 25)-+ for copy of saH: lct,tf'r (of request). <br /> <br />';l'1h- ~ <br />W.
